Hexham On The Horizon

We send a team of eight to Hexham this afternoon, getting underway with Methodtothemadness and Grand Morning in the opening novice handicap chase. Methodtothemadness has a good record over course and distance, being an 11-length winner back in June and a close third on her latest outing, but both of those wins came on good ground and it remains to be seen how she’ll handle this softer surface. Conversely,…

Estime Excels At Kelso

Our young mares continue to do us proud in the early part of the season, with the victory of Haute Estime at Kelso on Sunday coming hot on the heels of the wins of Clearly Crazy at Perth and West End Lady at Hexham. We were thrilled with the performance of Haute Estime as she travelled and jumped beautifully on her hurdling debut before quickly putting the race to bed between the final two flights.…

Kelso Contenders

Buoyed by the success of West End Lady at Hexham on Friday, we have five runners at Kelso this afternoon, kicking off with the game Gemologist in the 2m handicap hurdle. Still seeking her first win, she may need the run following wind surgery and a 191-day absence, with this setting her straight for a return to Musselburgh later in the month.

Aurora Thunder makes her chasing debut in the…

Wonderful West End

Following the victory of Clearly Crazy at Perth last week, we were on the scoresheet courtesy of another mare at Hexham on Friday when West End Lady made a winning start to her season, taking the opening race on the card by a convincing four lengths. Jumping well – bar a brief error at the fourth last – she relished the step up in trip and should have more to offer as her stamina is drawn out.

There…

Hexham Hopes

We are due to have five runners at Hexham this afternoon, although that is very much ground dependant as Rivabodiva, and in particular Grand Morning, would need plenty of rain to be seen to best advantage. If the rain does come in sufficient quantities, then Grand Morning is capable of running a big race on his return to action in the feature 2m4f handicap hurdle, but it could be that there are…

Dreaming Of A Double: Day 2 Perth

It was great to get on the scoresheet at Perth yesterday courtesy of Clearly Crazy who showed a wonderfully willing attitude to land the opening mares’ novice hurdle on a day when all of our runners performed with credit. She is pictured leading at the last hurdle.

Third place finishes for Katalystic and Red Missile and a brilliant comeback second from Vengeur de Guye and Blair were just…

Day One Perth

We send out five runners this afternoon on the first day of Perth’s two-day finale meeting, a fixture that marks the cross over between the summer and winter seasons and a place where we like to start a number of our most promising prospects.

Conditions look perfect for Clearly Crazy to make her stable debut in the opening mares’ novice hurdle. Fourth in a bumper in the spring prior to being…

Welcome Back Kelso

We love having runners at Kelso and the track’s return to action this afternoon, together with Perth’s finale meeting next week, really does signify that the main jumps season is just around the corner.

We have three runners today, starting off with Elmono in the 2m5f handicap chase. He hasn’t quite been at his best of late, but this is a significant drop in class and his latest third at…

Shopping Spree

We have been busy at the sales this week, with the camper van making trips to both Doncaster and Yorton Farm in Wales in the search for new talent.

First stop was Doncaster on Wednesday for the Goffs UK September Horses In Training Sale. Accompanied by three members of the Tay Valley Chasers, Jim, Ann and Yvonne, we were delighted to purchase the five-year-old Return Fire for the popular…

Missile Magic

It was great to get back amongst the winners at Perth last Sunday as Red Missile made a successful return to hurdles in the 2m maiden. Given a fantastic ride by Derek, he was momentarily outpaced when the leader kicked turning into the straight, but once finding his stride he really powered home, coming away on the run-in to score by 6½ lengths. Now a winner both on the Flat and over hurdles this…
