Mint Gold And Celtic Flames Double Up At Musselburgh

Mint Gold and Celtic Flames both won for the second time this season at Musselburgh this afternoon.

Mint is developing into a progressive novice two mile chaser and his jumping was spot on today. A tough mental attitude and desire to win has made him into a decent novice chaser for Susie and Mark Russell and he was given an excellent positive ride by Derek. He will have to step up in class now but looks well able on today's showing.

Celtic may be ten years old, and has twice been off through tendon injury, but he loves his racing and today he won for the sixth time for Willie and Pat Scott. He may have been fortunate as the leader fell at the second last, but the manner that he stuck on to the line sugests that he was always going to be hard to pass. He is pictured above.

Gemologist was unlucky not to make it three wins for the yard, fighting her way between two others but ultimately being second and later demoted to third for carrying the third placed horse across the track. She so deserves to win and is a credit to the yard to keep trying time after time.

We had glimmers of a revival from Emirat De Cantana who tried hard from the front but ultimately could not quicken in the final few furlings, however this was a better run than recently.

Earlier Lucky Flight tried to make all at a decent pace but tired as a result, to be fourth. Meanwhile, Vinos Choice over hurdles and Izzy's Champion in the handicap chase could not reach the leaders in races that quickened up the home straight, while The Road Home and Magnum both faded from the home turn and we will reassess their careers tomorrow.
